Students soon will have the option for a joint seat allocation process to apply to more than 32,000 seats in IITs, NITs and other central institutes.A joint seat allocation authority, being set up by the ministry of human resources & development will meet this weekend to finalize details of the process, said HRD officials.HRD?s plan is to make available all the courses offered by the central institutions on the same online platform beginning this year.Earlier, the HRD tried to conduct a common entrance test for engineering institutions across the country, JEE (Main). But, later it was decided to have a two-level screening test for IITs.The National Informatics Centre (NIC) will launch the website for the online seat allocation process, sources said.
