Charmi’s Mantra was a terrific hit and that lead to Mantra 2, though it’s not from the thread and not even from it’s makers. Carrying all the expectations created by Mantra, Charmi’s new movie Mantra 2 has released today. Lets see how much did Charmi scare the audience this time.
Mantra Story :
Mantra (Charmi) is an orphan and has no one there to take care of. Sh gets a software engineer job in Hyderabad and comes to take it up. A driver (Uttej) introduces her to an old couple (Tanikella Bharani and Delhi Rajeswari) to live with them as a paying guest. However once in the house, Matra finds someone trying to eliminate her. She approaches her college friend Vijay (Chethan), a Police officer for help and gets to know that she is living in a haunted house and the two with whon she is livign are already dead 2 years ago. With h=who, charmi is living for all these days ? and how does she escape from that haunted place is the rest of the story which has to be seen on screen.
Technical :
Debutant director SV Sateesh is the culprit of Mantra-2 failure. Mantra is an effective horror thriller but this one is not. There is no horror moments or thrills which keep the audience sticked to the seats. He even failed to use his actors to the best. The movie has got a good interval but things totally gets derailed in the second half. Climax is another big let down.
Sunil Kashyap’s music is just okay and BGM work is not effective to elevate the horror thriller.
Camera work is good.
Editing is a let off in the second half.
Production values are okay.
Artists Performances :
After Jyoti Lakshmi, Charmi has got another good character to showcase her acting skills. She had proven her acting skills once again. She did an excellent job particularly with the emotions and expressions.
Rahul Dev had fared well as a villain.
Chethan is good enough as Police officer.
Uttej, Tanikella Bharani and the rest have performed well in the roles.
Analysis :
Though Charmee tried on her best to make bank the movie to the shore, nothing else supported her. She alone is the main attraction of the film to watch out for. On the whole, Mantra 2 is not an engaging thriller like the original Mantra.
Rating : 2/5
Not even half good as Mantra.
