KCR announced 47% increases ghmc workers salaries

Giving a delightful conclusion to the 11-day indefinite strike by the GHMC sanitary wing workers, CM K Chandrashekar Rao on  announced a hefty hike of 47.5 per cent in their salaries. The Chief Minister said that the salary hike would apply to only those workers who have responded to the request made by the State government and resumed their duties on Thursday.  The decision to increase salaries of the municipal workers fulfills the promise of enhancing salaries of sanitary workers by the Chief Minister during the recent Swachh Hyderabad programme.

He directed the GHMC commissioner to remove workers who did not respond to the appeal made by the government from the service with immediate effect. He instructed GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar to pay the new salaries from the next month. The surprising decision came in the wake of a State-wide bandh call given by the Joint Action Committee of seven municipal workers and employees’ unions on Friday in order to build pressure on the State government to fulfill their demands.
