The number of pilgrims taking part in ongoing Godavari Pushkarams continued its swell on the third day as well. The official figures released by the Endowments Department up to 3 pm of the day put the total turnout at 6,70,780 in five districts, where the Pushkarams are being held by the State government.
Karimnagar district once again topped the list with 2,14,444 devotees taking the holy dip followed by Khammam with 1,70,933 devotees and Adilabad district with 1,40,471 devotees. Nizamabad district secured the fourth spot with 1,10,132 pilgrims taking part in the event. As usual, Warangal district secured the last spot with just 34,800 people visiting to take the holy dip.
The final numbers of the devotees for the third day are likely to witness a steep increase. The Endowments Department could not update the figures on real time basis as the official portal launched by the Centre for Good Governance exclusively for the Pushkarams crashed leaving officials of the department shocked and fuming at the technical team of the CGG. Officials told Metro India that the portal could not be restored till the end of the third day proceedings.
