The Supreme Court on Wednesday restrained the union government from using political leaders, ministers and bureaucrats pictures in government advertisements.Issuing fresh guidelines on government ads, the apex court said, only images of President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India, departed leaders and Mahatma Gandhi, should be used and further states that there is no need for special audits of the advertisements.The Supreme Court issued these guidelines based on two public interest litigations (PILs) filed, alleging that money was being wasted on the hoardings.
