Bihar is the worst hit state in India, with a death toll of 14, due to the earthquake that occurred this afternoon, having its epicentre in Nepal.As per Free Press Journal, 14 people were killed and 17 were severely injured in the state. Officials stated that the death toll might rise.Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his staff are reported to have come out of their office during the earthquake, which was of around 5 magnitude on the richter scale in the state.
In the other quake hit state West Bengal, the government has set up an emergency control room and for all the queries, calls should be made on the helpline number 1070.Speaking on the matter, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the disaster control agencies have been alerted.The Chardham Yatra has been stopped in wake of the earthquake.Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has sent two flights carrying 4 tonnes of relief material to Nepal.
